good times

It's nice after days like those...to have one's like these. Gotta love em'!

OMG!

I'm tired, my feet hurt,  I have a cold, and it's nearly midnight...but when it needs to be said, it needs to be said. 

So today I decide to venture out and try to do a little Christmas shopping. Well, from past experience I've learned that my kids don't shop well. I don't know if it's the fact that they're just insane, or that i didn't shop much when they were little, and they have no professional "stay in the cart and don't be a brat training," but whatever the case, it's historically been a nightmare. anyway, today I decided it was gonna be different. I didn't leave a base uncovered; naps, food and potty before we left....activities, sketch pads, stickers, sippy cups juice boxes, food, candy, gum, and toys for the stores....SERIOUSLY...anything to distract, occupy and disable, I had it. Unfortunately, apparently my kids HATE me, and five minutes...yes, just five minutes into the first store they were both screaming like we'd been there for 10  hours. Maddie wanted... in the cart, out of the cart, to hold toys, to take toys out of the box, to rip books (that didn't belong to us) to cry, scream, and then to call me a "biggy meany" at the top of her lungs when I finally snapped and told her that she was going to have to "sit AND cry in the freezing car....ALONE...while I finished shopping!"  Thankfully Brent's mom (who surprisingly looked very much like an angel at that moment) saw us there and helped me get the little monsters to the car before my mind powers blew them right off the planet.  

I know what you're thinking..."get a hold of yourself" right?  wrong!!!  I'm not even done!!! 

So then I go to a store that has one of those retarded cart poles that won't let you leave the store (I mean seriously who's gonna steal a stupid ROSS cart for crying out loud). Anyway, after I hit the top of the door TWO times (nearly giving myself whiplash) trying to get out, I decide that walking around the store for another  hour and a half waiting for Brent to drive through on his way home from work,  would totally be easier than trying to get my 3 year old, baby (in his 100 pound car carrier), two large bags, coats, scarfs and purse/diaper bag to the car in one piece. I seriously waited there for over an hour just so I didn't have to walk the 100 yards to the car. 

So after Brent gets there (and gives me the "I'm sure it was really THAT bad look") he reluctantly takes them both home leaving me free to shop and finally get something done...right?  Wrong again. he called me at least 10 times asking me to come home (in a not-so-nice tone) because they were both crying and being awful and he couldn't get either of them to sleep. "oh you poor thing."  

So I come right home (0f course), fly in the door (obviously not speaking to Brent) and go in my room to find Maddie in bed, watching a movie at 10:00pm. "Okay, that's it" just as I'm really getting ready to lose it, she looks over at the door and says "momma... there you are...I missed you, and couldn't go to sleep without you...will you rock me?" 

oh well, I guess it's really not so bad after all. 

Twi-Tard Forever baby!

So...  here's my professional review, (and don't worry I won't ruin it for anyone).  What I loved about the movie was seeing characters that I love come to life. It wouldn't have mattered to me if the movie was horrible; it was really fun to see the characters and scenes that I imagined and played through in my mind on the big screen. HOWEVER, having said that, I was pretty disappointed overall. The cinematography just wasn't very good; the visual and special effects were low budget looking, the script and acting was kinda corny most of the time, AND there wasn't near the seriousness in the movie that you felt reading the books.  Come to think of it though , I guess you can't get too serious with 300 screaming girls sitting all around you, giggling and clapping at every other scene.  Brent and I got there an hour and a half early and still didn't get great seats. Having said all that....we did have a great time and I'll definitely see it again (probably over and over), just seeing it all come to life was worth it. Plus, there were definitely scenes that WERE really well done and captured the essence of the books. Well there you have it...for whatever it's worth. 

PS. I should mention that Brent was one of like 5 guys in the whole theater; He was down for all of it until they started chanting "Team Edward." 

Also, sorry there aren't any pics of me kissing Edward on the movie poster, we couldn't leave our seats (I know you're bummed;) 

Finally here!

Okay people, tonight's the night!!!  Brent's lettin' me drag him to the midnight showing of Twilight. It's actually his Birthday date, what a sport huh (don't feel too bad, i know he's secretly pumped?)  Anyway, I can't believe it's finally here...I'm practically peeing my pants right now.  I'll post some Twi-Tard pics later of me rockin' out by the movie poster; betcha can't wait for those huh? Yeah...this is probably the point where one needs to ask themselves, "how old am I?"

Wrappin' up....

I can't believe it's November and the weather around here is still so mild. I know i've like WAY over done the fall pics this year, but this weekend we went to Harper's Ferry WV (the historic part) and i just had to post some pics of the beautiful changing trees. Usually by this time the leaves are mostly gone, but it seems like they too are trying to hold on to what's left of fall and the nice weather. My mom and dad celebrated their 29th anniversary this weekend, and by chance we all ended up heading the same direction and got to spend the day together.  It was such a nice day; nice not to be working on the house, or some other type of  "Saturday project"...just family and fun. I wish every day was one like this. 

This is Halloween, this is Halloween....

This year we got an extra special treat...TWO nights of Halloween!! The city had a rival football game on Halloween night, so they moved trick-or treat to Thursday night instead of Friday in the city limits...but the outlying areas kept Friday so...walla, twice the fun! On Thursday we stayed home and handed out candy; we absolutely love doing this. In fact i think i'll cry when maddie acutally wants to start getting candy instead of giving it. Trick-or treat night was complete pandemonium. We live on the big "trick-or treat street," and had nearly 500 trick-or treaters if you can believe that; sixty plus dollars worth of candy was gone in a little over an hour; there was a line up our walk to our porch the whole night. Seriously though, I just love Halloween...it so brings out the kid in me. Maddie got upset multiple times because I was "gettin' to hand out all the candy." I just couldn't help myself though...it was so much fun. Brent and I dressed up as "Jack the Pumpkin King" and "Sally Rag doll" from "The Nightmare Before Christmas." Night two was spent at Brent's sister home for her annual Halloween party and trick-or treating. She did an amazing job with all the food and treats. All and all it was a great Halloween season I tell ya, the kids had a ton of parties and events and definitely got there money's worth outta those costumes. Until next year...
