Countdown to Halloween!

Last night we made caramel apples and carved pumpkins. Fun stuff I tell ya. I look forward to carving pumpkins every year; Brent and I duke it out from opposite sides of the table, looking all serious and what not, but let's be honest...it's never really much of a competition. Maddie painted a pumpkin and then ended up playin' in the "pumpkin guts" the rest of the night (which is evidenced in every room of the house.) As for the apples...I really did have high hopes; dreamed of oooeeeyyy goooeeyy toppings galore, faces smeared in marshmallow, chocolate and sugar, Maddie sneaking licks and giggling...BUT, toward the end of the night it became a self project (as those types of things usually do) and I pooped out, settling for just white chocolate (which didn't turn out) and ButterFinger ...ummm ummm good. oh well, i guess those dreamy moments in our heads (that are seldom based in reality at all) are what keep us doing all those crazy things we moms do.

For sale...

Know anybody that wants to buy the cutest little cottage in Martinsburg?

Well, we decided to sell... try to anyway, we know the market is horrible right now but we found a house we love and thought we'd put our house up for sale and see what happens; we listed it on Monday. We're excited, scared and a little sad. We've worked hard on our little house and are proud of the work we've done, but feel like it's time for something bigger (if i'm to keep my sanity) and outside of town. We know it'll take a miracle with the market the way it is, but we're praying hard that whatever is suppose to happen will. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

All things Fall...

I look forward to this time of year all year long; October is my absolute favorite month. It's hard to explain, but i swear it's like my senses come alive... the colors are so warm and cozy that it just makes me want to wrap up in a blanket with a hot cup of cider. Oh and the smell ...an intoxicated mix of leaves, fresh cut hay and delicious apple treats; mm mm, makes me happy just thinking about it. I find myself wanting to spend all day at the farmer's market, or at my home place just so i can be surrounded by cornfields and pumpkin patches.

This time of year marks the beginning of harvest season where I live, and with the harvest comes lots of festivals. A tradition among the woman in my family is going to the festivals...the "Fall Foliage Festival" in particular. This year my sister and her family flew in from Vegas, and my cousins came from Hershey and New York to join in the fun. We had a great time. I was most interested in the food this year (and every year) as you can tell from the pictures, but I did run onto some great things for the house (and me) as well.

Also, during the week we celebrated my sister and I's birthday (they're on the same day.) The big 28-- It's funny, but you know i actually feel a bit older this year. I don't know whether it's having two kids, my body looking frumpy, or the fact that I've now started listening primarily to the music i grew up to (something I swore would never happen), but something is definitely different.

Anyway, I know there are a lot of pics but I'm trying desperately to get caught up on all the pics that we've been taking.

PS. Andrea, I had so much fun during your visit. I miss you every moment your away.
